Current

How does the current produced by the filter affect goldfish? I have a an
Aquaclear 200 filter in a 20 gallon long tank with two small goldfish. Is
this going to affect them adversely, and can they sleep without being
dragged around? Thanks for any comments or answers.

I have a 2dtx1ft with a fluval 2. I keep three small fish in it and I
have the pump pushing like so

P= Pump
pl= plant
C= castle

which looks OK on my screen, but will probably look screwed on
everyone elses. The water flow is broken up by the castle & plant
which slows the flow, but more importantly pushes it down. This
oxygenates the tank more, and I have recently noticed green algae
growth around the tank (which I believe indicates good air flow? -
please don't say I'm wrong)

To begin with, the fish battled with the flow, but now they seem quite
happy. I think it was a little bit of a workout, but eventually they
showed less levels of stress (poop analysis) and are happy slowly
floating & picking at the gravel around the bottom of the tank as I
type.

no.. but use airstones. normally GF arent going to be affected by regular filters
like you got unless they are really small. sorry, but on a whisper the flow can be
adjusted. Ingrid

I don't think there would be any problem. I have a filter with a strong
current and my fish seem fine.

I have an Aquaclear 300 in a 20gal and never had any issues with fish, but
my nice snail
got caught in the siphon once and killed it. better to have too much
filtration than not enough...

Hello

I would like to add that snail message I have got an Interpet IPF mini-flow
filter and my snail got stuck in the back of it by the blue slider switch.

I used to have a snail. Then I had two. Then I stuck them in the
pond in the hope they'd reproduce (yes I know I only needed one, good
thing two, I accidently crushed one) and eat some of the algae.

Unfortunately it didn't happen the way I wanted. I went on holiday and
came back to find the kids from next door had popped in. They pulled
out all the frogs, took all the rocks out (all the eggs dried in the
heat and died) threw in all the grass from the compost heap and
emptied the BBQ into the pond for good measure.

The parents didn't disipline the child, and she tried some similar.
Fortunately I saw her and her friend sneaking in (I was filtering my
tank from upstairs and "accidently" syphoned the waste water upon
their unsupecting heads.

Well, they weren't meant to be in my garden, I could hardly expect
trespassers could I? lol

I think your dead right in what you did to those kids they deserved what
they got in every way after ruining your pond like that!!!

And how did you crush your snail?
Do you know the ages of the kids and how they got in to your garden?
