Default Black Moor possible pop-eye?

A few weeks ago I purchased my first Black Moor, it is quite a young fish.
After a week in a small tank it was moved into the main tank, with a light.
It was only then I noticed one of its eyes was larger than the other.

It kind of pointed to it having pop eye. Treated with Interpet (I am from
the UK) Internal Bacteria treatment. The other day I made a trip to a
different LFS for another reason, and they had new black moors in, most of
them seemed to have the same kind of eye as mine.

So maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion and mine is fine. I will try and
take a photo later if I can, but do the eyes grow over time when they are
young? The large eye looks a normal shape, just bigger than the other.

I tried looking online for a picture of a pop-eye, but couldn't find one.

Graeme,

I have a couple of black moors. Mine have fairly equal sized eyes.
It is not unusual for them to have slightly larger eye than the other.
Also consider, that it may have knocked it's eye on an object.

Prime concern for you is to keep the water parameters as good as
possible. Do you know what they are at the moment (Ammonia, Nitr[IA)tes)?

One question I do have is, has the eye grown or shrunk? If you don't
know keep an eye out and let us know the progress

Yep, that may of happened. Nothing in the tank which they could knock it
on, but it may of happened in the trip home, or even before I got it and I
just never noticed.

All fine, it was the first thing I checked. No other fish are showing any
problems.

Not sure, both look normal (colour, shape) but just one larger than the
other. I will keep watching it, but I think maybe the best thing is to put
him back into the main tank for now to monitor save being on his own.

Thanks for your reply.

Their eyes are sometimes slightly different sizes. Also, popeye usually
affects both eyes. If one eye is affected it's usually due to trauma of some
kind.
I think if it was popeye you would know for sure. It looks pretty nasty with
a white fluid filled bagel shape ring around it.
I wouldn't worry too much if it was my fish. Just keep a careful eye (excuse
the pun!) on it and as long as nothing changes I should think he's fine.
Mel.
