Default koi filter

hi, has anyone had any experience with the filter
http://www.pondfiltration.com/quad.html? does the backwash recharge
the carbon or will you still need to buy more carbon over time?

thanks

Default koi filter

I know nothing about this specific filter, so maybe I should stay in my
corner and keep my mouth shut.

What I can offer, though, is this: I keep two bags of activated charcoal
(maybe 8 lbs. total) in my waterfall box for the purpose of trapping
mosquito spray or other contaminants that may DARE to enter my little
domain. It needs to be changed out every 3 months or so. Further, every week
when I do maintenance, I kinda scrunch the bags up to knock the biofilm off:
activated charcoal (AC) can't absorb if the pores are clogged with biofilm.
Now, the biofilm isn't "bad" - it's what converts the ammonia/nitrItes, but
that's not what I have the AC for. But it can't do what I have AC for if
it's clogged. Catch-22.

So, that's it in a nutshell. Personally - for myself only - I'd be suspect
of the filter. But again, I don't know anything about this particular one.
I'd suggest talking to the manufacturer.
