Hi as I live in Scotland and the weather is never great, can anybody tell me
when my fish arelikely to spawn, would like to rescue some of the eggs before they all get eaten. Are the eggs easy to spot as I am fairly new to this and have no idea what I should be looking for. Thanks for any help given. |

I've no idea when they will spawn, except "spring." signs of spawning: I get a lot of foam on the water, like with DOC. If I get up early in the morning I can see the fish thrashing among the plants, sometimes piling up out of the water momentarily as they get into awkward places. I usually don't see the eggs while they are in the water unless I am specifically looking for them. If I suspect there to be eggs I will pull the plants out and inspect them in the air. In my pond I have water hyacinth, anacharis and string algae that the fish lay their eggs in.If I decide to save any eggs I move the whole plant. Good luck with yours. -- - Charles - -does not play well with others |

in scotland they will probably spawn around the middle of june with a warm
spring or the end of june with a colder spring. If you are keeping goldfish it would be to msure you have plenty of pond weed before spawning. keep your fish well fed and just let nature take its course. I have a 3000gallon koi pond with 14 koi and 4 goldfish, every year i have to remove some baby goldfish I have no plants in this pond at all.
