I'm in the process of starting up a shoal of tiger barbs. I've already
got some greens and albinos. I wanted to add some red ones, but I'm a bit concerned that they might be painted. Does anyone know how to tell if they're natural color morphs or if they're painted/dyed? |

The ones I have seen are a natural color morph.

Thanks for that link. But I was hoping there was a good way to spot a
paintjob. (Or are paintjobs really, really obvious?) I've been looking for a picture of a red tiger barb online. Can't seem to find one. |

Natural red tigers have the bar pattern. The red is not vibrant except when
spawning. "kyu" wrote in message ups.com... Thanks for that link. But I was hoping there was a good way to spot a paintjob. (Or are paintjobs really, really obvious?) I've been looking for a picture of a red tiger barb online. Can't seem to find one. |

PS
I have also seen a red morph based on the albino...a rosy tiger barb. It also was natural. "luminos" wrote in message ... Natural red tigers have the bar pattern.
