Default standpipe

So I had my tank drilled at the bottom, got myself a bulkhead and some
pipe and then realised that when working with a standpipe and skimmer
would stop the need for an overflow in the corner, wouldn't it?
You know what I mean, the box-shaped refugium in the corner would
become obsolete.
If I don't make myself clear, I am sorry.

I think I'm understanding, yes. You're asking if the installation of
a standpipe being used to drain water to a sump would replace the
overflow box? If this is what you are asking, then the answer is by
all means yes, provided that the standpipe is large enough diameter
to match the flow of your return pump. You may want to search for
info on 'Durso" standpipes, as vertical drains are often quite noisy.

Let us know how it goes!
