I am reporting that my vortex siphon starter does work better than "doesn't
work worth beans", actually it works great. You just pump air into the out hose (of a canister filter), then pump air into the in hose (of a canister filter), then pump air into the out hose (of the canister filter), then pump air out of the out hose (of the canister filter) and gravity should start filling the canister filter (in my case a fluval 404). The hagen siphon starter will not pump air into a hose so it isn't as good in my opinion (pumping air in would be difficult). It is easy and I am very pleased as a: I didn't waste my money on a siphon starter (vortex) after all, and b: No more dinking around trying to get the filter filled without suck starting (I came close to suck starting several times before this new discovery, but haven't done that for a long time and few and far between). I must say I am happy about this and felt like reporting my discovery to you all, later! |
