On the weekend, I went looking for zebra loaches (on the suggestion of
someone in another thread), only to find that they are not legal in Australia. Apparently, many of my LFS's are under investigation at the moment, based on (bogus?) claims of their involvement in illegal importing activities, made by a woman who was caught at Tullamarine airport with dozens of fish strapped to her (see http://www.themercury.news.com.au/pr...535207,00.html). I understand that this newsgroup is international, but it is incredibly frustrating to go to the trouble to research a species, only to find that they are not available down-under. I have looked around all the government quarantine websites, but can't find a definitive (and easily understood) list of fish that are legal in Australia. Does anyone here have such a list? |
