See subject. I got my new motherboard/cpu/memory combo parts today and

with this amd duron motherboard (I have seen this condition before on
another computer) or it is damaged. Luckily I had an old used but

I

am officially back to this newsgroup (and the others I frequent) and I

now

have television on this computer too - no more watching a tiny screen in

the

living room. Thanks for the support netmax, and thanks to you others for

the

recommendations.

For bubbles as tiny as ceramic airstone bubbles in freshwater, discarda
stones (lee's brand) actually (the slim model for smallest bubbles) work
great, contrary to what i said before. The only significant advantage a
ceramic airstone would have over the discarda stones airstones is the

fact

that the discarda stones have to soak in water before being used (10
minutes?). Just thought I would throw that tip in so I could say I am
definitely at least partially on topic with this post.

I am still catching up but might finish that tonight. I hope you all are
safe and not in that hurricane mess, my heart goes out to all of the

people

that are in it but more importantly to me I hope at the very least

almost

all of the pets (fish, dogs, plants, etc.) are doing o.k. or better. I

am

sorry but I hate to see animals suffer - especially from outright

meanness

or neglect, they seem so precious to me.

Sorry to hear you are having a spreading problem with your pet fish

gill, I

wish I could help you stop the spread of whatever it is.

Later!

Hi Daniel,

Good to hear from you again :-) and thanks for your concern on the fish
problem which I'm happy to say is now resolved - although I did lose all
but 3 Neons from the 15gall tank :-( (3 Clowns and 3 Neons) but I'm
pretty sure that they were sick when I got them. The tetras after a week
in a 5 gall tank are now happily established in the big Community Tank
which I've now finished restocking and replanting after the filter
disaster a month ago.

The problem was contained in the 15 gall which I have now disinfected
and reset up - it is now home to two Dwarf Gouramis that are doing well
(they tried breeding earlier this week unfortunately the bubble nest
didn't hold up but I guess the only way to look at it is as a practice
run for them. Have just checked the water quality (as the tank was going
through a "seeded" cycle) and it is spot on now - so more fish to buy
(he, he) - problem is I haven't quite decided what to put in there other
than the Dwarf Gouramis....

The Gobie in the Hex tank seems to have just been one of those things.
I'm trying to source some more but they are hard to come buy. One LFS I
use has been trying to get hold of some for months and have promised
they will order them once they find a source (apparently they have to
import them from Holland as there are none in the UK). Maybe I'll save
some space in the 15gall for when they arrive...

The Platy was the aftermath of the filter disaster - v.sad. The
remaining Platys have now redressed the balance and I have 3 small
Platys swimming around in the tank :-)

Currently have a sick/battered/tailess Yellow Lab in the Mbuna tank -
victim of Mbuna in-fighting. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get
her out - she keeps jamming herself into caves. She is still feeding so
I can only hope that she keeps herself out of the way of the others and
recovers - I've had this happen with some of the Melanchronis girls and
they have made full recoveries.

Matt's 30gall is doing well at the moment. Have added some YoYo loaches
to deal with the snail problem which are quite good fun - although I do
think that they look like big wasps - lol

Betta is doing well in his 5 gall - I still need to move the Platy but
for the moment he seems to have learnt his lesson on fin nipping

I think the problem is that in having 6 tanks there is always something
going on in one tank or another - keeps me on my toes :-)

Hope you and your fish are doing well

Gill

Thanks for the well wishes - and yes they are doing well. It is awesome to
hear that your pets are doing better. Best of luck to you! :-)

Hey and I was weak today...got 6 Rummy nose tetras for the 15 gall after
checking the water was OK - "seeded cycle" and you know my thoughts on
that so made sure the nitrite and ammonia was zero - had been tempted
anyway and had done the research so couldn't resist....hmmmm what next
for this tank..????

Spent 45mins algae scraping this afternoon on the Community Tank ( in
the Conservatory) - every time I do this I resolve that I will clean it
daily to ease the workload....in reality if I can see the fish I kind of
stall on the scrape - I need more discipline - afterall the fish don't
care even if my arms ache after that amount of scraping - maybe better
than a gym workout but who knows - lol - certainly I enjoy it more than
a workout not that you would ever catch me in a gym - lol

I'm glad your fish are doing well...think it might be almost time to do
a post to find what everyone has...not tonight though - a bit late in the UK

Gill
