I'm just trying to understand why closed tank is "necessary" and not just "wise" or "conservative." ================== I've had GF for years and breed them right behind my house in 150 to 680g tanks. I don't see it as "necessary" to close the tanks to new fish that are carefully quarantined and treated for parasites. Parasites were always the biggest problem with them. Ulcers were the biggie with their close relatives, the koi carp. Once you remove any parasites they may be carrying, keep them in good healthy conditions and feed them well - they thrive and reproduce rapidly and prolifically. What medicine/what is your treatment for new fish? |
