Default Can someone identify this fish?

Maybe you are right.
Now I don't think they are minnows. I saw one open its mouth very widely.
The whole jaw was open. Maybe just like another say it a little bass. They
are not eating and their bellies are shrinking. I think that I am going
to put them back to the river. They were caught by the river (Olentangy
river, Ohio, http://www.ohiodnr.com/dnap/rivfish/default.htm ) where the
water is shallow and standing.

My friend got this fish from the river for me. It's about 1.5 inch
long. Would you please take a look and tell me what the fish is if you
know. Tks.

Beofre you put them back, you might want to try catching some freshwater
shrimp for them.

Go to your local dollar store or equivalent and pick up a couple of CHEAP
nets. Take them to the spot you captured the fish at, and just scrape the
net along the bottom. You'll get lots of organic matter in various states
of decomposition, and a few usually 3-5 freshwater shrimp with each netful.
(or at least, that's been my experience). Toss the shrimp in the tank and
see if your mystery fish starts eating.
