We noticed what we thought was likely breeder stock also. We have
picked up some gorgeous new male bettas. They usually have the normal reds and blues. However, we got a black with cream fins and a black with big wispy clear-grey fins that have an iridescent blue shimmer on them in the right light. I don't know the technical names for them, but they are gorgeous. Sorry bout not adding this to the original thread. I lost it erasing SPAM the other day. TYNK wrote: For those of you that have local Petsmart stores, they seem to have gotten in really nice female Bettas this week, and last week. I've checked 3 different Petsmarts in 3 different towns, and all had the same stock, so it's worth a drive to the store if anyone is lQQking for female Bettas. I picked up a few long finned females (these are lovely, as they look more like males when fully grown), and 4 opaques (mostly white with blue and green genos. That means they look pearly white, yet when the light hits them right they shimmer either greenish or bluish over that peraly white. Gorgeous fish. Some of the long finned females are *extended* reds, so that's an even bigger plus. I had to replace one of the royal blue LF girls, and found another LF, dark red with black marbling over top of the red on her back. I have just the male for her if she passes quarantine. I had a nice black round tail juvenlie male shipped to me, and she'll go nicely with him. If they aren't compatible, I have at least 3 other extended reds that are worthy of breeding. Stores don't often get in nice stock, but occasionally breeders will let loose of a lot of excess stock and it ends up in the wholesaler bins. They may not be show worthy, but often are worthy of spawning. Can't beat the price either. $1.99 each. I've seen Crown tail, Delta, Double tail, round tail, rose tail, super veils, everything except halfmoons at either Petsmart or PetCo's. Now it's not like they gets these nicer ones a lot, but they do occasionally. 2 weeks ago I found another jet black crown tail male. Gorgeous fish, at PetCo. You just need to go after they get their fish in, and do it like every week. That's how you find these gems. Have a Betta day all! = ) |
