Default do i need co2 filter?

i have a 125g tank i will convert into a planted aquarium. do i need a co2
filter? if i do, can you suggest a good co2 filter? there is one kind which i
think just takes like a bar of carbon and doesnt need other tinkering with
(forgot what it was called). is this kind good?

how hard is it to install a co2 filter?
