Default Spawning

Hi as I live in Scotland and the weather is never great, can anybody tell me
when my fish arelikely to spawn, would like to rescue some of the eggs before
they all get eaten.
Are the eggs easy to spot as I am fairly new to this and have no idea what I
should be looking for.
Thanks for any help given.
