Default Red Tiger Oscar

Hi,

I live in Brisbane Australia. I recently bought a baby red tiger
oscar. Does it require a heater? It is quite warm here in summer,
take today for instance it was about 30 degrees celcius and very
humid. However it does get as low as 12 degrees celcius in Winter. I
was once told that oscars don't require heaters, but I have heard
stories on these news groups of people's oscars smashing their
heaters! Maybe these people live in areas where it snows, can someone
clarify this for me?

Thanks.
