lining pond

I went to our local flooring business and found free carpet. They agreed to
give me a call when they pulled up an old carpet. I would suggest calling
around, maybe you can find something like it.

Shortly after the pond was filled we did find a place called American
Liquidators that sold used Hotel and Motel furniture and carpeting. It was
cheap but we weren't going to redo the pond.

Since we couldn't find cheap carpet anywhere we used old heavy shipping
cardboard and several old quilts plus rags on the bottom. So far so good -
cost $0.00. :-) We did make sure no rocks were poking through anywhere.
We used the 60 mil liner.

for 200 gallons, I won't even bother with underlayment not to talk of sand!

Well we finished digging the pond this weekend.....uhm I guess 200 was
wishful thinking.....it ended up to be 1000 gallons and 3 times as much
money as we had anticipated. (Why didn't you all warn me......lol)

Ooops! Sorry! ;-)
It is actually all part of our master plan to turn as much land into ponds as
possible...

I'll give you a heads up on bullfrogs. They can be fun pond pets but will eat
fish when they get large enough.
But they will also eat mice! And snakes and other frogs and anything they think
they can handle.
We ponders are just glad they don't get big enough to go after us! ;-)
