Today, our society is caught up in the grip of superficial
values---glamour, glitter, materialism, a pathological emphasis on
youth, a neglect of the elderly, the handicapped. Families are being
broken up under the impact of a frenzied desire for success. Violence is
glorified and paraded in front of children every day on the media.
Basic human value, basic decent, kindness, cooperation are less and less
evident. Economic pressures and psychological pressures mount. More and
more individuals feel unhappiness---and helplessness---in their
acquisitiveness for pleasure and accumulation in this selfish society.
They turn to artificial stimulants, they lose touch with themselves.
Their problems, their insecurities mount, and become dependency. The
suicides of society cause us to reflect on the terrible trend.

HOLY SMOKE! I thought you got the above from a Watchtower Magazine. They
print the same depressing, suicide inducing, xanax taking, alcohol consuming
gloom-and-doom trash! Reading this kind of stuff twice a month and hearing
about it during 5 meetings a week would make anyone go over the edge into
depression and hopelessness.......

The JWs are waiting for Armageddon now for over 125 years. It's always
"just around the corner." Reminds me of the gamblers who believe their next
GAME will bring in the fortune.
