Hi All, ... All this set me to wonder how everyone else feels about their fish..... Gill I like having aquatic environments around the house. I like watching the schools of fish swim, and watching plant growth over time. I like learning about water chemistry, natural habitats, fish and plant biology and classification, all that stuff. Sources of information were books and some other aquarists, but in the last 10 years the Internet has become a more important source. I liked building an aquarium stand and a few light hoods. I also enjoy slightly modifying the filter plumbing to suit. And I regard some fish as pets: my old clown loaches and goldfish. |

Same here...Water changing isn't any different from going to the store for something. It only takes a few minutes a week and makes such a difference in the well-being of all the tankmates. And a 5gal buckets makes for good exerice! Gill You summed it up. People can throw together an aquarium of chaos and disorder, or a blissful environment. 'Scaping is a big part of it IMHO. -- Thanks-ED |

I get such a buzz when you are doing a water change and they come and nibble your finger or arm. Makes you feel so pleased that they are that comfortable with you. I love it that they come to the corner whenever you walk past or come up to the glass and watch you when you are doing something close by. I also love the way they don't answer back, demand to watch 'The Wiggles' and tell you that they don't like what you have given them for dinner. I suppose mostly it is such a sense of achievement when everything is going well and they are thriving. Such a lovely topic Mellie Not to mention the sub-conscience tranquility that it stimulates for any aquarium admirer. Some setup tanks with a sense of pride. Some with a sense of showmanship..some just because they care. -- Thanks-ED |

I know you far better than to even believe that money plays a part - however you may wish to portray yourself....you just get a kick out of all those ickle, lickle fishies - admit it....store credit is a plus but not the be all and end all for you or me....all it does is help finance our addiction :-) Gill |

You've got an excellent point there, and I can look forward to more H2O changing as I start building my next tank. :| Now that I think about it in that perspective...given the size of my apartment and the upkeep costs involved....OUCH!! -- Thanks-ED |
