Default Less Alive Rock?

As was said, lots of water circulation.
Also keep your ammonia and nitrite low.

Allow plenty of fresh air (don't seal the top).
If you have a hard time keeping ammonia down, you can hook
up a venturi to your pumps to produce lot's of bubbles to
help degas ammonia, but be for warned that this will cause
salt creep, and put more salt in the air.

I put my rock in a newly set-up tank about 48 hours ago. I figured what
initially appeared on the rock would continue once I got it submerged, I can
already tell that there has been some die off since putting it in. Some of
the "green" areas have receded. Some of the protrusions seem to have wilted.
Is this natural?
It seemed pretty dynamic when I got it in. Is there anything I can do to
preserve it better.
