![]() "matrix j" wrote in message ... Just wondering if rec.ponds ever does a roll call every now and then? Just to see where everyone is from and what other interests and hobbies they may have? Hello - this is Jacqui in Hamilton, Ontario. I've had a small pond for about 5 summers now. Lucky me, it came with our house!! I've got a great hubby who gamely helps me tackle all "our" projects and 3 sweet little girls... hoping to adopt a 4th in a couple of years (need a bigger house first!). My pond is currently about 300 gal and I'm hoping this summer to use only biological filtration, nothing mechanical. I have a basset hound with a fondness for extension cords, so we want to keep her safe. I'm stocking up on watercress & water chestnuts from the Asian Grocery near us & got a ton of hornwort from my mom's pond. We have a few goldfish, mostly rescues from the feeder fish tanks at Petsmart - a treasure trove if you care to take a chance. Other hobbies... pottery, reading, collecting My Little Ponies, researching all things Chinese, trying to get my kids to eat vegetables, cooking and shopping. Jacqui |

Hello,
Seth from the Upper Valley between Vermont and New Hampshire in the USA here. I have a small, 110-gallon indoor pond with a lot of plants, a few koi, and a few goldfish. I mostly live vicariously through other people's ponds. I help manage the fish room of one of the local pet shops and I help people understand fish-keeping science, proper setup, and proper maintenance. I live with my partner, have two stepsons, two incredibly mischievous cats, an ultra-bitchy African Grey parrot, two fish tanks, and more house plants than you can count. I am very much into gardening and outdoor activities in general. Good to read about all of you. |

Kirsten, 49, just relocated to Marietta, GA (just north of Atlanta) from San
Diego after 30 years there--just couldn't come up with half a mil++ to buy a house there! One of the reasons I bought my house here was because of the pond...little did I know what was involved :-) I sell clothes at Nordstrom Department Store, travel, have two "kids" Joey, my orange tabby and Charlie-girl, my black Persian mutt kitty. Currently have five goldfish--one being the sole survivor from the former owner who said, "there might be fish in there, I'm not sure"! I decided he needed buddies, and it's so cool to see him swimming right next to them all the time. "matrix j" wrote in message ... Ex-physicist and ex-computer analyst. We have 3 adult sons between us Had a small pond when I lived in VA and built a slightly larger one when I moved to my wife’s house in MD. My third one here in WV is the largest at about 1400 gallons. Still tuning the waterfalls, so we have not introduced fish yet. Dave http://members.tripod.com/~VideoDave |

My name is Godwin, I am a recovering PORG? Heck no, I am deep into PORG and
loving it. In order to afford my PORG habits I practice Architecture on the side. I am a Principal in one of the largest Architectural Firms on the West Coast of USA. My Younger Brother and I are in to this Koi habit (see his pond pictures in my link below) In addition to ponding, I collect classic American Cars (V8), and I love Fishing (California to Mexico, to Canada, to Alaska) What a dichotomy! I also love to travel. My family and I just got back from a Father's Day trip to Mexico. Puerto Nuevo....All the Lobster I can eat...... My biggest interest for sure though is my family! My 3 brothers, 2 sisters, mother (my father passed away), wife, and other family members. The worth of a man is the family that loves him. And I look forward to a friendly contest with BV as the resident court jester! (He does have a head start on me though, being that English is my second language!) -- _______________________________________ "The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: The chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'." http://community.webshots.com/user/godwino "matrix j" wrote in message ... Forgot to add that I live in Beautiful Rancho Cucamonga, California. I can
go skiing in the morning, and same morning go down to the beach, or go hiking in the mountains! All within 30 minutes of me. Or for a 3 hour drive be in Las Vegas, or Mexico, or Palm Springs, or Santa Barbara, or Los Angeles, or .....! -- _______________________________________ "The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: The chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'." http://community.webshots.com/user/godwino "Just Me "Koi"" wrote in message ...
