.. I use OE (chastise me not flamers, I am too lazy to
bother getting anything else). The view is set to hide read or ignored, yet
when I first open the reader is shows some at the top of the list. I swap
the view around and they go away but they shouldn't be there to begin with.
Anyone know why this happens?

If you want to try Agent Forte 2.0 , I'll provide you with a reg. key.
Not sure how much better it works the OE but it'll be my way of
helping ponders seep through the garbage.

I'm pretty sure the laziness is the reason we should be chastising you :-)

Yeah, probably should!

No. I've never been able to understand OE (and despite being a Linux
geek,
I actually quite like OE). I really think you'd have an easier time
learning another news program than getting OE to behave.

I'll take that under advisement; thanks, Derek.

I'm using Agent too and I wasn't seeing much of this garage others were
mentioning. Then I visited Google, OMG! Agent & my killfile really work
well. ~ jan

The morons have to die sooner or later, whether they be bible pounders or
rogue ponders with a vendetta. Im tired of the scumbags ruining the group as
much as anyone, but the only solution that works is to ignore the idiots,
wait for them to move on to other things, filter them out when you can and
get on with our business.

Post any problem you may be having under another header.
We have a lot of talented and knowledgeable people who post
here and they can solve just about any problem.
In fact we talk about anything!
religion
spanish class
flame wars
10 year old vendettas

Thanks to Carol; she did a nasty thing on ARJ-W, we all have to pay

Here is a Pond 101 page for new pond keepers ~

There is a solution to the flame wars and all the spam. Other newsgroups

use a
method that seems to work well. For instance, if you post to
alt.binaries.pictures.astro (a newsgroups for amatuer astronomers who want

to
share their astrophotographs), you are requested to post "astro:" at the
beginning of the subject line. Then everyone, by mutual agreement,

creates a
messege filter in their newsreader that filters out any post that doesn't

have
"astro:" in the subject line. Why can't we all agree to put "PONDS:" in

our
subject line when posting and then simply filter out any messege that

doesn't
include "PONDS:"? I think we should include this in the FAQ, and ask

everyone
to do this. It might not filter out all of it, but it certainly should

help get
rid of a lot of it. And it might take a while to catch on, but if we all

agree
to it, and remind people to do it when posting, it might alleviate some of

the
crap. What say all???
