What with the planet heating up, it's something of a crap-shoot, as far
as if a hurricane will hit a specific area,...There are all sorts of weather-related events currently happening world-wide, everything from another large chunk of iceberg, this one only about 100 miles square [a previous one was literally the size of the state of Rhode Island], to record-breaking heavy rains, drought snow-falls, or tornadoes, et cetera. So who knows where a hurricane, or any other weather event might take place.~Dean. |

![]() "Papa Red" wrote in message ... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= If I had a choice, I'd move to the center of the state, away from the ocean and any large bodies of water, flood plains, et cetera, because with the Earth warming up, bringing about the change in the North Atlantic currents, due to the melting permafrost, icefloes, icebergs, et cetera, with the frigid freshwater coming in conflict with and slowing the flow of the warmer waters of the Gulfstream, thus altering the normal weather patterns all around the world, resulting in more freak weather, and more powerful cyclones, hurricanes, tornadoes, et cetera. This is really scary as I live on the eastern edge of Tornado-Alley. I don't suppose the powers that be are doing anything about all that carbon dioxide or whatever is causing all this craziness......... So living along the coast, in my case, just blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, would have a much higher degree of probability of severe damage to my home and my person. Anyone thinking of moving here, or anywhere near the coast should keep all of that in mind.~Dean. With the hurricanes and high cost of living in a decent area there, people may be better off staying where they are. -- Koi-Lo.... the ReelMcKoi Frugal ponding since 1995. Aquariums since 1952. ![]() "Papa Red" wrote in message ... My disabilities currently are manic depression and COPD, both permanent disabilities,...But most times, only the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease would prevent me from doing any heavy labour, such as putting up window coverings. But the thing is, I'm barely getting by as it is, so there is no way that I could afford to purchase any viable coverings for my windows. And of course, unless everybody, including those on the second floor, covered their windows and glass jalousied front and back doors, then the structure's integrity would be quickly compromised. And I can't see any of those folks climbing up on a tall ladder and attaching the coverings to those windows.~Dean. ============================== You're only alternative then is to have a comfortable bathroom. If you can't evacuate you can always have a few candles and a few good (library) books in there. Small cheap kerosene lamps can be found at Wal*Mart for under $5. At least bathroom windows are small, easy to cover with a heavy drapelike cloth and you wont get hit with flying glass (depending where the window is). -- Koi-Lo.... the ReelMcKoi Frugal ponding since 1995.
