I think as with any dog, one has to realize that behind the cute puppy look
slumbers a potentially dangerous animal. So you do have to work with them,
a lot, and keep them in check. But first of all, we want her to trust us
completely, and try to educate her through reward, not punishment.

That's sometimes hard when she craps on the carpet after just having had a
long walk (yek ! :-) but in the end will be worth while IMHO.

Ingrid wrote labs
are known for going after smaller animals and doing damage if not killing

them.

I have never heard that.
And never seen it in the three generations
of labs my family has had in Jody, Maggie, Rosie, Heidi and Cody. From

four
different bloodlines.

Ooooooooooooooh, what an adorable
puppy!!!
Of course I'm totally in love!
She looks like Rosie did as a puppy.
They are special dogs. :-)

We are kittysitting the next door kitty this
week. The girls are highly suspicious of kitty
scent on our hands!

Pondwise I'm ready to adopt my first batch of
frogs' eggs from jan today. The frog bog was weeded and leaves taken out,
marginals are taking off and is ready for its role as a frog nursery.

She might emerge from 'exploring' covered in the stuff!
Heidi, the yellow lab, has come in the house stained green with grass or
spotted with pink spots from fallen cherries.
I sent the tired puppy picture onto my parents,
owners of black lab Cody, they sure enjoyed it.
We all get nostaglic for those puppy days and then we snap out of it!

I remember seeing my friends lab going nuts over the bunnies in the back yard
when he was let out. My friend was always trying to relocate the bunnies for
their own safety. He was well trained and behaved, but he wanted those
bunnies.

My cockerspaniel....who is not well trained and has been a mental case since
she was born....despite constant consistant handling, is also a bunny,
squirrel, bird hunter.....oh and boy did she love to roll in the pond "stuff"
we cleaned out of the pond the other day.......
