Default 2nd odometer useless

Every car I have owned has the normal odometer that keeps track of the
actual miles. There is another one on the speedometer that has only 3
digits and the tenths.

I have used it once to a trip to Florida. Although, I will be
returning no matter how far it is. I might have used it a very few
more times for one reason or another but the thing is pretty much
useless.

If it had 4 digits I could use it for oil changes and tire rotation or
for recording all kinds of scheduled maintenance.

Does anyone feel they get any use from the 3 digit ones?

Some company's required a daily report on her company cars.
So I know this odometer as a "daily odometer".

You can use it to see how miles per gallon you get; I doubt any one is
going to over 999 miles from one full tank.
