Air Con probs
2002 330d with no cooling air the drive belt is fine, the fan works, and the
pump rotates when A/C is selected. Does anyone have an idea of what to look at? |

Are you sure the clutch engages when you call for cooling? Check the
accumulator and look into the little circular glsss sight glass. You should see fluid flowing usually with bubbles. If not, you may be low/out of refrigerant to where the low pressure switch (safety) is stopping the compressor from engaging. Look for an AC Repair shop! Seriously. You've ruled out the big, obvious stuff. Time for an expert opinion. It will undoubtedly involve doing some work with the refridgerant and you are not qualified to do that. -- -Fred W |

You two have gotta be kidding. Didn't you know that you can buy R-134a refrigerant over the counter now, in a can? You can get a big can for about 10 bucks at many places that sell even a relatively small selection of auto parts. Comes with fitting and hose too! This job is now easy and cheap. If only they'd start selling kits for home AC's..... ----- Kill ratio of Palestinian children to Israeli children 5.7-to-1, Israel's favor. Do tell. When the air is no longer cool, it needs a recharge. I have wife sit in car, and when air is cool, I stop charging. Pretty simple. This car needs about one can per year that lasts all summer. Some years back, I took this car to an AC "specialist" because the compressor was making a little noise, and the air wasn't cool. He said I needed a new compressor...about $600 I think he said. I didn't bite. Still the same compressor (no longer makes noise) and cool all summer on one can of refrig. ----- Kill ratio of Palestinian children to Israeli children 5.7-to-1, Israel's favor.
