Default Window Scrapers

Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to install window scrapers (inside
and outside) on a beetle. The incompetent mechanics that I brought the car
to weren't able and kept saying I have the wrong part, meanwhile the one
they took out looks exactly like the ones I bought :P

Thanks for any info.

When I did mine last summer, I seem to recall I had to take the inside
door panels off (after first removing window crank and door handle).
Then I had to unbolt the window mechanism so that I could get the glass
a few inches lower in the door. Once it was below the door sill area, I
was able to snap in the inner and outer window scrapers with a bit of
difficulty. I also had to screw the brightwork back in place of the
outer scraper. Once the inner and outer rubber scrapers were all back in
place, I brought the window back up enough that I could re-bolt the
mechanism and then the window could be cranked up the rest of the way as
normal for testing the fit of the scrapers... Once I was happy with what
I saw, I re-installed the door panels and finally the crank and door
handle.

Hope that helps... I figured all this out by just logically looking at
it and didn't have a shop manual to guide me... I suspect the procedure
would have been the same!

The glass has to come out first. Then you will see the tiny square
shaped holes inside the metal that wasn't visible when the window
scraper was in place. The scraper attaches to these little holes with
spring clips (flat strips of springy metal that are bent to shape).
About maybe 5-6 on each piece.

The important thing I learned was not to buy CHEAP parts. It makes a
difference in how easy they are to install.
good luck

Well, not "out" so much as down lower than normal... which is
accomplished by unbolting the crank mechanism... it'll give you the
extra amount needed.

You might also have to take out the wing window to get the outer scraper
with its chrome trim in there
