Default Reset Service Interval Indicator

I changed the oil in my E36 this weekend, and finally decided to figure out
how to reset the service interval indicator. Anyway, I did a Google Search,
and quickly found a very simple method of accomplishing this task.

1.) Locate the #7 pin on the data port
2.) Ground this pin while the ignition is ON, but not with the engine
running.

(The google hit that I used said to use a 390 ohm resistor inline between
ground and Pin 7, but I didn't have a resistor laying around, so I used a
light bulb with about 400 ohms of resistance.)
