Default 1997 dodge neon

i have been having troble trying to find out what is wrong with my neon.
From gunning the car from a stop, either the u-joings or the transmission,
is shot. I have had a couple people say its the tranny, and a couple say
it the joints. The car, when accelerated somewhat quickly, sits there and
shakes, without moving then it picks up and go. Any one have this prolbem
or know what it could be, please let me kno. thanks

I would say your slipping bad in the transmission. The shaking would be the
plates coming together, but not fully engaging. Then it probably catches
and either jerks you forward or slowly gets up to speed. Check your tranny
fluid. If it is real dark (burnt) and smells funny then you probably need a
tranny rebuild.

If a U-joint failed, it would make a loud clanking sound when engaged or
would completely come apart causing other damage. I thought the Neon was
all front wheel drive, so there would be no u-joints, only cv-joints.

Good luck,
Tony
