Default Electric Vehicles

First off, an electric vehicle can be expected to add incredible
weight as it adds range.

But a real benchmark was set. The Tesla Roadster has a range of over
240 miles while having a weight within 10% of a traditional car of
comparable size. The Tesla Roadster weighs about 7.1% more than a
Mazda MX5 with automatic transmission.

Now the BYD E6 electric vehicle has hit the market including 40 taxis
in Shenzhen. Also, note the range of 186 miles.

But I'll compare this EV to a traditional vehicle:

BYD E6 electric vehicle

5 seat crossover
179.5" length
71.7" width
64.2" height
5203 lb curb weight

Nissan Rouge

5 seat crossover
183.3" length
70.9" width
66.3" height
3292 lb curb weight

There's lots of interesting info at withouthotair.com
download the book and checkout the chapter on cars.

Here's a quote, but I was unable to figger out how to cut
it out of the pdf and keep the spaces.

How does it get "a range of over 240 miles"? 10 mph? no heat, a/c,
daytime only?

Electric cars are nothing but electric paperweights.

I wonder if the 5203 pound weight of the BYD E6 electric vehicle is a
website mistake of listing gross weight instead of curb weight. That
could make the weight about 4400 pounds but that's still a big
percentage over the traditional vehicle of comparable size. But the
website says 5203 pound curb weight.

The Tesla Roadster makes it's numbers with lithium ion batteries and
with a Lotus designed vehicle frame.
