whats wrong?
can anyone tell me whats wrong with my car? i have a 1998 honda civic lx
32,000 miles. whenever i stop i feel some slight vibration and some noise in front, sometimes the car vibrates so hard. Is this normal for a car? or is there something wrong? By the way i just have an oil change 2 weeks ago. |

Any noise coming along with this vibration? Like a scraping noise?

Sounds like possibly a warped brake rotor.
This can be cause by uneven wheel lug nut tightening. --- Bror Jace |

It sounds like a problem with the time belt. Have it checked, cause if
it fails it's going to cost you a lot to fix your car. |

yes sometimes, i'm not sure but could it be the timing belt causing that
noise? |

Before checking the belt, I'd check the rotors, as Bror below already
mentions. If the problem was within the belt, one would imagine that you'd hear the noise at other times as well - they tend to be noisy when cold, for instance. I wouldn't excluded it but I'd check anything related to the brakes first. |

Turns out it was the front wheel bearings were getting loose, causing a wicked shudder while braking, especially coming off the highway onto an offramp. Jack it up and rock the wheel from the top and bottom. Any play could indicate worn suspension parts. -- Paul '91 XL1200 '77 GL1000 (W.I.P.)
