Default Got my 75 back :-)

She's been away for a few days having the gearbox stripped and
rebuilt....

Work done:
New diff. bearings
Several other bearings also replaced
Diff crownwheel and pinion replaced by better ones from a spare box I
gave them to cannibalise
Synchro rings replaced
Linkage adjusted, lubricated.

It's like I have a new car - so much so that I got her home and polished
her.

Looks like I'll have to start saving to have the bodywork done next.
Although she doesn't look rusty, I'm scared of the thought of taking off
any of the plastic ;-)

Still, I'm a very happy Alfa driver tonight :-)

Hi Steve H,

I'm happy for your "new" Alfa. I've got the same car,
1988's Alfa 75 2.0 T.S. These are true cars and they
require the best maintenance to really enjoy them.

I ask you a question. I don't have still understood if
the gearbox of this car could work really well. After
the jobs that do you have made, could you tell me if
the manoeuvrability of the gear lever is now
acceptable?

I have only need to know that one day my gearbox will
work to the best too.

Thanks,

Paolo Z.

It's very tight and a little obstructive to change now, but the throw
between gears is a lot more precise and seems to be shorter than it was
before. You still need to be slow and deliberate with the shifting, but
it's probably better now that it was when it was new.
