Default Speeders are SAFER drivers

In 99 I had just driven 1500 kms from Europe to Preston during which I
heard my mother who I was going to visit had suffered a stroke. We
drove to Lancaster to drop our luggage on on the way into Preston went
from a 40 to 30 mph zone. Mine was the only car on the road and as
usual I let the speed bleed off however I was hit by a mobile radar
trap.

The cop was not interested in the circumstances and I had foreign
plates on the car, not knowing I showed him my UK license which he
immediately confiscated. This cost me 3 points and £30 or £40.

The following day I was running alongside a police car 'keeping up with
the flow' doing 55 mph through road works on the motorway where speed
was indicated at 30 mph? Having lived for many years in both Germany
and Italy and driven many miles through Europe. I am uncomfortable
about driving in the UK as standards differ in many counties.

Many European countries would simply not put up with what Brits accept!

Therein lies the real problem. Too few people willing to complain
constructively or work with others to acieve a result.
