Default 89 Accord DX High Idle Problem

Hello all, I have an 89 Honda Accord DX, carbureted, and I am having
some trouble.

I recently replaced the clutch and CV axles. All of that checks good.

The specific problem I am having is that the engine idles at 3000 rpm
after warming up after starting. If I shut it off during this time,
it will not start again unless it has cooled down. It doesnt over
heat, and everything else works normally.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

One thing that's cheap to check: Is your coolant in the reservoir full
to the MAX mark, per your owner's manual? It says any time you have work
done on the cooling system, you need to refill it to MAX, because the
HOT coolant is used to perform several other functions, some of which
involve your idle.

Did this happen immediatly after the clutch job?

I'm thinking your monkey damaged the throttle cable... as in the cable was
in the way for him, and he jammed it somewhere out of the way
during the job.
