Default Basic Alignment Question

If feel like I should know this, but wonder: should I wait until AFTER I
get a new set of tires mounted before I have the front end aligned on my
Miata, or can the alignment be adusted just as accurately if it's done with
the old set of tires still mounted?

It doesn't matter. It's the wheels (actually the hubs) that are getting
aligned, not the tires. IMHO, sooner is better, since a good alignment
will help you enjoy the remaining miles on your present tires. If you're
interested in improving your Miata's performance, see my page below for
suggestions.
