2000 dodge avenger oil pressure 2.5 L engine problem??

hello all,

I have a beautiful 2000 black dodge avenger ES with the 2.5 liter engine.
It runs great, but I am very suspicious because it idles around 550 RPM
and the oil pressure is incredibly low ALL of the time. At best, and
rarely, it goes halfway up the gauge. This does not seem normal to me. can
it be a sensor? What can come from this and what do I have to worry
about??
