Excellent on the door prize! I would have sold it immediately. :-)

I'll be thinking of you when it hits the mid-seventies today. Monday is
a predicted high of 82.

I received a very tempting job offer in the Seattle area yesterday, so I
might be shivering like Seattle Bruce this winter instead of baking like
Houston Chris this summer.
At least the timing is good for this year.

I remember when you actually had to go to another building to do a job
interview.

What boring choices. Move to Missouri and you could do both, like St.
Louis Lanny.

The air mix door is out of adjustment. Remove the glovebox and look at
the right side of the HVAC unit. Wiggle the temperature (top) lever to
see which cable needs attention. Unclip the cable end from the lever.
Close the mixer door, then reclip the cable so it stays shut on "cold."

Oddly, the shop manual specifies that it be adjusted so it's open all
the way on "hot." But that typically prevents it from closing
completely. However, if the mix door's foam gasket is badly
deteriorated, it may leak anyway. You'd need to get creative to fix
that, since parts are not available separately from the dealer.

You may also need to replace the two inner shifter boots, the rubber
ones beneath the vinyl boot. They disintegrate from age, and let hot air
off the exhaust system flow into the cockpit.

None that I could hear.

I agree there. I cannot stand those things.

That is precisely what this thing does, gets rid of the heat on the
feet. I tested mine for the first time yesterday, and it pumps a lot
of air right down to the leg/feet area. Even at 20 mph I could feel
it. The faster you go, of course, the more air movement around the
feet.

Mine had 19,000 miles when I bought it. The first thing I had checked
were the things mentioned above, and they were fine. My feet still got
hot in the summer. Yes, AC directed toward the feet helped, but it's a
Miata. AC just takes too much power and zip away from it.

Thanks Pat, Lanny, and Altar.
I will follow Lanny's suggestion and try to recalibrate the cable as soon as
it warms up here... I seem to recall a similar problem with a Honda that
ended up being an acorn jammed in the vent door that kept it from closing.
I am glad to hear that on the Miata it is not too deeply buried. Pat I
might still contact you regarding the parts if necessary and if still
available.
Thanks again everyone.

Well Pat, today is the first day of "Spring" and North Seattle got about
1/2 inch of snow ! We in the "Deep South" of Seattle had sunshine, but
40 deg's. Come on up to Seattle. We have some very fun roads for Miatas
and lots of things to do. Aug. and Sept. run in the 70's and 80's. (we
did have some 90's last summer)

Do you REALLY want me living nearby?
I could always move to Florida, that would make another person on here
very happy, I would think. ;-)
