Any suggestions how to reduce the potential bill for $960.00 to
weatherstrip 4 windows on this car? ...sheesh

If I bought the stripping and installed myself maybe? Do I have to
take off inner door panels ?Or can it be done from the outside ?

any help appreciated...

Michael

I think the wstripping needs to be replaced because the gap between
the glass and the strip is big enough to let in water and is brittle
anyhelp with my questions would be appreciated Tegger I think used is
a short term answer though do I understand you correctly these strips
CAN be removed installed without taking off the inner panel?

thanks

Michael

Oh, you mean THAT weatherstripping. I thought you meant the soft rubber
gaskets that surround the door frames. These can get damaged from
thieves and from careless passengers and drivers.

The squeegee-type weather stripping at the windowsills leaks even when
new. It's not meant to be a perfect seal, just to keep out /most/ of the
water. That's why you have drain holes in the door bottoms and plastic
sheeting on the door frames.

There are two sets of weatherstripping, by the way: The outer lip you
can see and feel, and an INNER squeegee you can only see if you pull
back the outer lip and look inside. I'll bet the inner ones are in great
shape.

If I were you, I'd just leave it alone.

If you're set on doing this anyway, get ready for LOTS of labor (hence
your $960 quote). The door panels do have to be removed, plus the window
glass itself must be lifted out. Not worth it, trust me. Besides, I have
a feeling yours are sealing no worse than anybody else's.
