Engine RPM
Just got a used engine put on my 99 accord dx and the trouble is the rpm is
pretty high and goes up and down between 1250 to 2000 fluctuate between those 2 numbers. I hope the that mechanic didn't mix up the wires and damaged the PCU module. Anyone have any idea what could be the cause for this fuctuation and the reason for being so high. Thanks in advance -- Message posted via CarKB.com http://www.carkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx...nance/200506/1 |

It sounds a lot like a vacuum leak. Bad vacuum hoses, or maybe leaky engine seals, e.g., valve cover gasket, allowing unmetered air into the fuel mixture. Didn't your mechanic notice this after installing the engine? -- Ken Bell :: :: (212) 475-4976 (voice) |

tnanks for your reply Ken,
Yes my mechanic notice this after and he is still working on the car but unable to trace the problem even the diagnostic tool not showing if there is a sensor or a valve not working properly. also he checked all the hoses and the connections. but what i didn't like is he was swaping connectors on the throtel body and my fear is he damaged the powertrain control module. pleas advise Ken Bell wrote: >>Just got a used engine put on my 99 accord dx and the trouble is the rpm is >>pretty high and goes up and down between 1250 to 2000 fluctuate between those >>2 numbers. If you didn't change final drive gears the rpm at any speed should be the same regardless of engine. the fluctuation also seems to make me suspect the tach. Do you HEAR a fluctuation? The ear is reasonably sensitive to rpm. |
