Is it legal to replace the cluster with a different odometer reading?
I would like to install a new cluster with tachometer. The odometer reading
will change, is it possible to adjust the new one accordingly? |

Local law will override Honda's suggestions, I'm sure. 'Curly' |

Most places, replacing the odometer is legal, but it has to be disclosed when you sell the car. It is possible to change the reading of the new odometer to match the old one. You can tinker with it yourself (think function generator set to 5V square wave, few hundred Hz in place of the VSS) or take it to a speedometer shop (yes, they still exist!). In many cases the simplest solution is to transplant your old speedometer / odometer into the new-to-you cluster. |

Since I intend to keep my 93 HB till it is crushed, I wrote the old mileage
from the stock cluster on the recipet for the new cluster. I taped the recipet to the old cluster. There is 43k mile difference. This is ONLY a issue when filing when transfering a title to a new owner. Mine will be scrapped before sold. "Sean" > wrote in message ... > I would like to install a new cluster with tachometer. My new used cluster came with a broken odometer. I swapped it with my original
odometer. Sean wrote: > I would like to install a new cluster with tachometer. The odometer reading > will change, is it possible to adjust the new one accordingly? |
