You mean a *slopehead Oriental ching-chong Chinaman?* (AKA "SO/CCC"; compare "LS/MFT.") We have them all over up here. They aren't bad people, all things considered, but they really **** me off with their "Mister Magoo" style of driving. > I wish these dang furriners would learn the rules of the road before > they come here and start driving like arrogant little pricks... Where do I get off assuming he was an Oriental? From (a) the driving style you described; (b) the fact that he was driving a relatively prestigious car; and (c) from the way that you described the miscreant not just as a "prick," but as a "*little* prick." Obviously a liberal, Brent P > tries to blunt the criticism: > It's easier to skip the step of learning the rules of the road and go > right to making up their own version and driving in a me first, **** > everyone else style just like so many of the born-here citzens. Except that as anyone with an ounce of perception would've picked up on, this particular individual's problem wasn't aggressiveness but ineptitude. Ignorance of the concept of "right of way," specifically. By the sound of things, he should've been restricted to pulling a ricksha. I am almost amazed when I see *anyone* driving in a correct manner. Stop signs are especially chaotic. Doesn't anyone teach the proper way to handle a 4-way stop anymore? I've all but given up hope on the KRETP issue, best it seems you can hope for is that the morons don't bunch up so close that you can't get through at all. Directionals are alternately treated as a) a sign of weakness b) a device for granting oneself the right of way. I used to enjoy driving, back when I lived in civilized redneckia... nate -- replace "fly" with "com" to reply. http://home.comcast.net/~njnagel |

I used to be proud of the way Californians handled dead traffic lights -- queuing properly, taking turns, etc. We had a power outage the other day which also blew the lights at the complex intersection up the street. After only a few minutes I looked out and there were flashing lights and smashed cars.
