Why? Those first screens looked promising but turns out they were lies,
the new in-game footage on IGN is terrible.

I have watched SEVERAL videos on gametrailers and links from new4gamers.com
on DIRT and all of them look incredible. The only problem Isee that DIRT
might have is frame rate. Most Forza 2 screenshots and video look average at
best. I'm sure the gameplay will be amazing but from what I've seen on
videos I am disappointed with it. I guess later tonight or tomorrow we will
all know for sure.

The Masterbit HD one. There's a bit early on where the car spins
slightly and the back left corner clips a rock. As soon as he does the
windscreen turns into a dark web of cracks, and I just laughed out
loud. Whenever you touch anything with any part of your car the
windscreen develops exactly the same cracks. That's enough to wreck it
for me.

Plus did you consider that it is off beta code, and that attention to detail
may not have been refined yet?

I just find it hard to take seriously a game where physics should take
precedence over all, yet even the most basic bits of damage are
completely scripted. That should be the first thing they make, before
they go getting pretty reflections and mud-spraying effects. It's out
next month and not looking close to finished to me.
