Default restoration Alfa Spider 1975

Hello,

Lucky as I am, someone will offer me a 1975 ALfa Spider Fastback (metal
dashboard). The car is in a very poor condition: interior, chassis... Motor
and back seem to be OK. The ALfa-restoration specialist in whose backyard
the car is for the moment tells me it will cost about 13-14.000 Euros to put
the car back in a "new condition". During the 1 1/2 year restoration
process, he will make photographs and deliver the car with a full documented
restoration history. So, he seems to be serious.
Finally my question is: Do you think the costs I've indicated above are
worth accepting that "gift" ?

Thank you in advance.

Louis

P.S: Apologize my poor english...

Hello Louis,
have a look at the C.F. Mirbach homepage, the most important dealer of
oldtimers in Germany. They are offering a 1963 and a 1964 Alfa Romeo
Giulia Spider, very well restored, pictures of the cars are whown, and
both are in a price category of > 25.000 €. I think its worth the
money, because there are, at least in Germany where I live, not too
many Alfa´s around.
Regards
Wolfgang

Personally I think it sounds way too high, but I always think that
about European Alfa prices.

I'd try posting this question on alt.autos.alfa-romeo and two
web-based forums: www.alfabb.com (mostly U.S.-based and focused on
older Alfas, but the group includes Europeans who could give you some
advice) and on
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/index...eferrerid=3117
(U.K./European based forum mainly devoted to newer Alfa models, but
also with a dedicated group of older Alfa enthusiasts).

There are also a number of European-based parts dealers, and while I
might be able to name one or two, the folks on all the sites mentioned
would be able to give you a more complete listing.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "spider fastback" as there is no such
thing. I assume you mean a kamm-tail. It's the spider version with the
squared-off truck (as opposed to the earlier boat-tailed version).
