If the engine is flooded, which it could easily be after all that
cranking, then 1. press the accelerator down fully 2. crank 3. if the engine fires, release the accelerator immediately All ECUs (engine control units) 'know' that if the engine is cranked with the accelerator pedal fully pressed, that it should not inject any fuel so that a flooded engine can be cleared. thanks for all the sugestions. ive had it looked at by alfa and the key
code system has a seperate unit that reads the key code and then checks the codes against the ecu codes. basically its nackered so the imobilliser wont switch off. for future refrence the unit cost £80 plus fitting plus you have to pay for the codes again so all in all it will cost £200. |

i have the same problem every 2-3 months and it lasts for about a week.
just be patient and turn the key off and on a few times. its to do with the key code (thats what alfa told me, the sensors can come loose. To put it right they wanted 58 quid to do test then depending on whether it was the key or in the column it may be more. Until the key light goes off it wont start! |
