The viscous diff was also used on Range Rovers and Ford Sierra 4x4 cars
around the late 80's/early 90's. They have a tendancy to seize in older RR's
giving the tyre wear and fuel consumption problems you described.

Jerry hangs out pretty regularly over on r.a.m.j+w altho haven't seen
him there lately. Also Mike Romain who is recovering from a
nasty vehicle accident and "treatment" by a socialized medical
system.
