Do I have to change transmission oil at 48000Km?
Hello Guys,
I got a 2001 Civic, I normally get it to the dealer to change the oil and filter. They insists that the transmission oil has to be changed at 48000Km. It is an automatic transmission. Does this make sense. It does not say so in the car manual. Any advice is appreciated. Nemo |

How much extra are they quoting you? 'Curly' |

It is included in a package they call it type D maintenance (changing oil,
inspection of brakes, suspension components, drive shaft boots, drive belts, replace air filter, spark plugs, replace aircondtioning filter) for $350+tax Canadian. This is exactly same as their type B except replacing the filters. Then they charge $200 for filters and transmission fluid. I changed air filter myself for $17 bought at CanadianTire store. I understand most of their package (specially inspection stories) is a money game. What do you think? Nemo "'Curly Q. Just use real honda ATF, buy a second jack (for tire rotations) and a bottle of car wax and have an enjoyable Saturday 'bonding' with your Honda :-) Their 'inspections' are mostly unnecessary since the oil change people do most of them for you too.
