Apparently the leadership behind the 160 km/h speed limit has never hit
a kangaroo at that speed. Then again, neither have I, but my
experience with deer at 20 mph is enough.

I'm beginning to wonder if the news guru didn't buy into a hoax.

I think there's a possible alternative interpretation.

According to one article I found, Australia's Northern Territories
(the size of France, Spain and Italy combined with a population of
about 200,000) have up until now had *no* speed limit. Perhaps
the newly imposed 160 kph limit is a decrease, not an increase.

If you continue reading you'll see that it'll be replaced by a 110 or
130 km/h limit.

How about you present some data that shows driving at 100 mph on deserted roads
is dangerous ?

Actually I believe gun deaths decreased but armed robbery increased.
