Default Aftermarket gauges for an 87 Fox

I'd like to install aftermarket guages on my 87 Fox.

Where would be the best place to install a water temp gauge?

Oil: does the stock oil pressure sender send a signal to anything
other than the idiot light? I'd like to just be able to tap that
point for a line to a mechanical gauge (or to a sender for an electronic
gauge).

I am intrigued by oil temp gauges... where do these typically hook
into? oil pan? somewhere near the filter?

Also, as I have a spare MAP gauge, I'd like to hook it up. Is there a
nice place to splice that in?

one of these days i'll get the manual... but i though i'd ask here
first.

Thanks in advance!
/tom

Your preference that makes sense to you! I will assume that you don't like the
stock one.

Does your Fox have the two oil pressure switches, one on the back of the
cylinder head and the other on the oil filter housing? If so the oil pressure
wires probably go to a low oil pressure warning system.
Some VWs used a dual purpose oil pressure sending unit that also has a switch
built in it. So it can register oil pressure and send that info to the gauge
and also flick an idiot light on.

Usually it is on the oil filter housing

Try http://www.egauges.com/

Get a dual output sender, I replaced my idiot light sender (M10x1.0
thread) with a dual output analong/contact sender driving a VDO pressure
gauge.
