Default Road gravel sandblasting my Toyota Tacoma 4X4

I recently bought a '03 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 XTRA Cab and I am
experiencing heavy chipping or 'sandblasting' directly in front of the
rear wheel well. This truck came directly from the dealer with
265/75/16 BFG tires and factory mud flaps. I ride on paved roads and
I noticed this damage during this past winter. My dealership told me
they don't know what's causing it and '...they've never seen it
before'. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this problem or if
there is anything I can do since my dealership won't help. Thanks

For what it's worth ... there is a protective coating that
bodyshops/paintshops can apply.
