can I use existing filter, aerators, plants. gravel, etc, add the salt and
put in the sal****er fish? 55 gal tank, established fresh for about two
years, good water chem levels, giving away all my fresh water friends to
people whom I've helped set up tanks.

you can, but its best not to. aerators cause salt creep and micro bubbles
in the tank, which are bad for fish and inverts. it helps to have a calcium
based substrate to help buffer your water.

I have used fresh water setup equipment back 20+ yrs ago with no problems
but its much more stable and easier in the long run to do it right.

hope to have helped.
