Hi,

I purchased a Regent Aqua-Tech-5 from Wal-Mart (similar to Eclipse
System 6) a few days ago. The impeller housing does not fit into the
pump/filter assembly. The width is correct, but the length is about
1/4" too long. The impeller housing looks slightly different than the
drawing in the owner's manual. The part that came with the kit has
radiating ribs around the outer part of the semi-circular end (drawing
has none), and the bundled part lacks horizontal stubs on the sides to
mate with the horizontal notches on the pump/filter assembly.

I called Aquaria this morning, but the customer service queue had 18
people ahead of me with estimated wait of 72 minutes. So I sent e-mail
to customer service.

Has anyone else encountered this type of mismatching parts? How
responsive is the customer service? I'm thinking of just taking the
kit back to Wal-Mart for a refund.

Regards,
Kevin

Kevin,

I'd safe yourself the troble and return to WalMart and get a new one,
see if you have the same issue before leaving.... Then let us know
how tech support went.....

Just my $.02

Just take it back to Walmart - they have a really liberal return
policy (and in this case I'd bet somebody opened your box anyways) and
Marineland is pretty good about taking returns.
This isn't your problem - let Wally World have it.

Thanks, Tony. My concern about returning the kit for another of the
same is that this may be a systematic problem in the factory. If so,
another box in the same store may have the same problem with high
probability. I'd be more inclined to return the kit and buy a
different model (e.g. larger tank) or a different manufacturer.

I received an e-mail reply from Marineland's customer service today.
The rep. offered to send me a replacement part if I replied with the
part number and my address so I did. I'll wait for this, and if the
replacement doesn't fit, I'll return the kit for a refund.

Regards,
Kevin

Thanks, Rikko. The box did not have tape on the outside so the item
could have been returned. However, the seal on the heavy plastic bag
containing a few items including the impeller housing looked like a
factory job. As I mentioned to Tony, I'll wait for the replacement
part before trying to return it.

Kevin
